Eddie Jordan not the Answer

Eddie Jordan, new 76ers coach

Eddie Jordan, new 76ers coach

Over the years, I lambasted Billy King for his poor selections of players and signing them to ridiculous contracts.  Kenny Thomas, Brian Skinner, Samuel Dalembert, Willie Green and Greg Buckner are just a few off the top of my head.  So far, the Ed Stefanski era, supposed to be the complete opposite of the Billy King era, is starting to look the same.  Elton Brand deal looked to be great on paper, but after the injury plagued first year, the deal could be questioned, unless Brand bounces back.  Now, with the hiring of Eddie Jordan as the coach and the subsequent ridiculous contract he has, it reminds me of the Billy King days.  At least Jordan’s contract doesn’t affect the salary cap, but it will make it harder for the team to fire him after a losing season.  In fact, it appears that Stefanski didn’t take PhilaTude’s advice from a few weeks back.

Eddie Jordan hasn’t proven anything as a head coach.  He couldn’t win with a talented Wizards team and when he was a successful assistant coach with the Nets, they had talent and a solid head coach.  I just don’t see what Jordan will do for the Sixers.  I am concerned that Jordan will continue to be a “blah” coach, just like the coaches before him and after Larry Brown.  The Sixers would have been better off hiring an experienced assistant, even without head coaching experience, to lead this young team.  Of course, since and Stefanski and Jordan were buddies back in their Nets days, it just makes sense that Stefanski would “hook-up” his friend.  I am aggravated.  As it stands now, I don’t see Jordan lasting for the length of his contract.
